Thank you for joining us at DPW Amsterdam 2023

Wow… what an incredible two days at DPW Amsterdam 2023! Hartelijke dank aan iedereen die dit mogelijk heeft gemaakt! This was Team-Canopy’s first time at DPW… and it definitely won’t be our last!

Nick Verkroost and Doug McLean at DPW Amsterdam 2023

We relish the opportunity to talk about Canopy whenever we can and what it does to deliver reduced spend across entire supply chains. That’s why we were thrilled to attend DPW Amsterdam 2023. The event focused on how to make digital aspirations for procurement a reality now. The speakers, panellists, and exhibitors were challenged to deliver actionable solutions to real-world problems, not just presenting ideas. And that's exactly what we've done with Canopy.

Here are my top 5 takeaways from DPW Amsterdam 2023

  1. Technical competency is now a prerequisite to Procurement Leadership. If this isn’t your forte, invest time in learning. You can’t avoid it any longer…

  2. The emergence of ’T-shaped’ solution providers is real… and unsurprising. But no solution can be a specialist at everything, which has consequences for Procurement Leaders. Stay focused on the problem you need to solve, and recognise when your technology partner is being asked to stray from their core.

  3. “ERP is dead; we just haven’t admitted it yet” has to be the catchphrase of DPW2023! And it’s hard to argue against. Can this spark a mindset shift? Rather than accepting ERP for what it is (and suffering the consequences), what new ways of thinking can we open up by questioning its role?

  4. Everybody’s talking about Process Orchestration… but how will it develop? Is it simply a way of making the SAPs of the world a bit more bearable? Or could it unify the ecosystem of best-of-breed solutions into a fully-formed offering?

  5. Data is still a HUGE problem! And it’s very evident the problem is only getting bigger. If I could have a dollar every time someone said, “I have to log into multiple systems to know what’s going on with my suppliers”

Despite all the challenges the profession is grappling with, this is a truly welcoming and supportive community. I’m so glad to have finally been able to meet these incredible people in person who do so much for the ecosystem Daniel Barnes, Tom Mills, Karthik Rama, Maria Villablanca, Sheldon Mydat, Aaron Addicoat and of course the ever-present James Meads! We are living in a truly transformational time for Procurement. Congratulations Matthias Gutzmann on raising the bar on the digital conversation… yet again!

Reduce spend by 10% across your supply chain

Canopy aggregates each supplier's data into one trusted Vendor Master Record. Data-driven insights let you make informed decisions about supplier availability, risk, performance, diversity, ESG, and any other attributes you want to monitor.

Canopy does for procurement what CRM systems do for sales. Not only does this give you the insights you need for procurement in your organisation. It also allows you to reduce spend by identifying clearly where you can make savings. The system streamlines procurement, order management, and payment reconciliation processes. Together, this serves to reduce operational costs and improve resource allocation.
